Application note

Rust Preventive Oil for Automotive Parts

Matching MOERY grades to automotive components: cast iron, plated fasteners, sintered parts and export shipments.

MOERY Technical TeamPublished: October 25, 2026Updated: October 25, 2026

Automotive components use a mix of metals and processes, so no single oil fits all. Cast-iron engine parts suit KG-2B / KG-3B, plated and phosphated fasteners suit KG-2C / KG-3C, sintered powder-metallurgy parts suit KG-4A / KG-4B, and export shipments benefit from long-term grades like KG-8.

Selection table

See the Automotive application page for the full table with typical parts and recommended grades.

Process considerations

Check compatibility with downstream assembly, painting and cleaning, and keep fingerprints off finished surfaces.

Frequently asked questions
