Rust Protection for Metal Processing
Between machining, washing and packing, bare steel starts to rust within hours. These grades keep production moving and parts protected.
What puts metal at risk
Corrosion in this sector rarely has a single cause. These are the conditions we see most often.
Wet parts after washing
Residual water starts rust before the oil is applied.
Heavy-oil carry-over
Parts that arrive with cutting or drawing oil need cleaning and protection in one step.
Cycle time
Slow-drying films slow packing and stacking.
Many materials
Steel, electrical steel, plated and sintered parts often share a line.
Stacking and sticking
Parts must not stick together after oiling.
Fire safety
Solvent flash point matters on a production floor.
Matching the grade to the part
Start with the part and the process; the grade follows.
| Part / situation | Recommended grade | Why |
|---|---|---|
| General machined steel | KG-2 / KG-3 | 1–2 years, fast drying |
| Parts carrying heavy oil | KG-6 | Cleaning and protection in one step |
| Parts leaving water-based washers | KG-10 | Displaces water; drain the tank bottom regularly |
| Electrical steel laminations | KG-2A | Formulated for electrical steel |
| Sintered parts | KG-4A / KG-4B | Micro-pore penetration |

Frequently asked questions
What about parts that are still wet?
Use KG-10 to displace water; drain the accumulated water from the tank bottom regularly.
Can one oil clean and protect?
KG-6 is made for parts that still carry heavy oil — cleaning and rust prevention in one step.
How is the oil applied in production?
Dip tanks are the most economical; spraying and brushing also work for most grades.
What about operator safety?
Follow the SDS: ensure ventilation, keep ignition sources away and wear gloves.
Is a trial available?
Yes, we can supply samples for line trials.
