Rust Protection for Steel Parts

Choosing and applying rust preventives for carbon and alloy steel parts, from in-process protection to storage.

For carbon and alloy steel parts, MOERY KG-2 and KG-3 are the general-purpose choice: 1–2 years of protection, 2–3 years with plastic-bag packing. Apply by dipping, spraying or brushing on clean, dry parts, let surplus oil drain, and avoid rag application.

Application steps

1) Clean and dry the part. 2) Dip, spray or brush. 3) Stand the part upright so surplus oil drains. 4) Allow the solvent to flash off and the film to form. 5) Pack. Dipping is the most economical and reliable method.

Special steels

Electrical steel: KG-2A. Cast iron: KG-2B / KG-3B. Plated or phosphated steel: KG-2C / KG-3C. Wet parts: KG-10.
